| Writing about one's self seems terribly self serving. But then again, is not the ego part of what drives the artist? I don't make art, I simply reveal what was already there. I guess that makes me a conduit of some sort. I read about a test that was conducted pertaining to the devolution of language in this new technologically driven age. The subjects were given text from the body of an email. They were timed, and in that time they were to spot as many spelling errors as possible. 90 % of the errors went unnoticed because the brain is conditioned through context and experience to expect that certain words will logically follow other words in a simple sentence expressing a simple concept. I believe our eyes deceive us all the time, not just when reading. The camera, on the other hand, reveals what our eyes can not, or will not, see. |
